Guangdong Provincial Government donates 60,000 masks to Mendoza Provincial Government in May 2020

Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On the week of May 9, 2020, the Mendoza Provincial Government received a donation of 60,000 masks from the Guangdong Provincial Government, which includes 10,000 surgical masks and 50,000 for civilian or security personnel who have to control or work in traffic management or services related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Based on photos of the donation, the masks appear to have been manufactured by Shantou T&K Medical Equipment Factory Co., Ltd. Mendoza and Guangdong have been sister provinces since 2013, and the two signed an additional Memorandum of Cooperation in November 2019. Additionally, the donation follows the governor of Guangdong, Ma Xingrui, and the then-governor of Mendoza, Rodolfo Suárez, signing Letters of Exchange in March 2020. These Letters pledged cooperation between the two provinces in combatting the COVID-19 pandemic specifically.
