Description

In August 2020, Guyana's Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister met with China's Deputy Chief of Missions in Guyana and agreed to scholarships and training for members of Guyana's state media in the Public Affairs Department (Source ID #158166). An article from Guyana's DPI suggests that the scholarships will move forward once Guyana has agreed to terms (Source ID #158168). Then, on August 27, 2020, China awarded twelve young Guyanese students scholarships to pursue tertiary education in the People’s Republic of China. These scholarships were granted to celebrate the two countries’ 50th anniversary of friendship and cooperation.
