On September 26, 2014, the Chinese Consulate General in St. Petersburg donated books and films in Chinese, English, and Russian to Mayakovsky Library to establish a "China Bookshelf" at the library. Chinese Consul General Ji Yanchi stated that the opening of the bookshelf will help citizens of St. Petersburg to learn more about China
