Project narrative

From July 1st to 6th, 2019, representatives from the University of Thessaly visited the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Beijing to propose the creation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Thessaly. On November 11th, 2019, Hanban and the University of Thessaly signed an agreement to officially establish the institute. Under the agreement, Hanban is obligated to provide funding to the institute. The cooperating university for the institute is the Central University of Finance and Economics. On November 8th, 2021, the Confucius Institute at the University of Thessaly was officially opened through an inauguration ceremony held at the school. The project is the third Confucius Institute to be established in Greece. As of 2022, the institute has more than 25 cultural lectures and three international courses to provide to students.
