Project narrative

On September 3, 2020, China’s Ministry of Defense provided a donation of anti-epidemic materials to the Government of Ecuador. The materials will be distributed to Ecuador’s front-line anti-epidemic officers and soldiers to support them in efforts against COVID-19. The donation included an unspecified number of thermal vision helmets, KN95 masks, infrared thermometers, and other items. The Chinese Embassy reported via Twitter that the donation was worth 2 million RMB. The Ecuadorian Ministry of Defense held an online handover ceremony for this donation in Quito. Ecuadorian Defense Minister Haring, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of National Defense Organization Affairs, the Armed Forces Joint Logistics Support Commander Major General Flores, and Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador Chen Guoyou attended the ceremony.
