Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2014, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Institute in Auckland the "Model Confucius Institute" status. The "Model Confucius Institute" designation is a status that provides an institute with additional funding and possible renovations. For the University of Auckland, Hanban agreed to provide financing to refurbish the Pembridge House, where the Confucius Institute currently resides. As of April 2020, the Confucius Institute is still waiting to hear from the University's Property Finance Department with an update on the Pembridge House costs. Interest, however, is still accumulating in the account designated for the house's refurbishment.
