On October 1, 2020, a medical team from China arrived in Dominica as the first team of the fifth phase of the China-aided medical service cooperation project in Dominica. The doctors were to be posted in Dominica for a one year term of service at the China-Dominica Friendship Hospital. While stationed in Dominica, the team was to provide medical assistance, hold lectures on Coronavirus prevention, and work with the Chinese embassy on vaccine rollout. The team was lead by Dr. Wang Zhiqiang, deputy chief physician of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Prevention and Control Center. The doctors returned to Guangdong on October 7th, 2021. The previous team had left Dominica on July 11, 2020. The umbrella project for all phases of the medical team project in Dominica is #73211. By September 2022, the fifth team of the fifth phase of the project was set to take off to Dominica.
