Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

The Confucius Classroom at St Mary's Bryanston Square CE School was established on October 21, 2010. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing St Mary's Bryanston Square CE School with a grant. It was the 54th Confucius Classroom in the United Kingdom and the seventh Confucius Classroom established by the London Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine. A TV set, a DVD player, and books and DVDs about China were presented by the Chinese ambassador to the Confucius Classroom at the signing and inauguration ceremony. The Confucius Classroom was running before it was officially opened having begun operations on October 11, 2010. The original Confucius Institute project is tracked under Record ID#44307.

Staff comments

1. AidData has coded Harbin Normal University and Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine as the implementing agencies because these two universities are the Chinese partner institutions for the London Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine, which oversees this Confucius Classroom. 2. The Chinese name of the school is 圣玛丽布莱顿广场小学.
