On February 4, 2017, the Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, Duan Jielong, announced the winners of the 8 Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Awards for 2016, with each of the 8 students receiving an award of HUF 200,000 for study at the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School. The Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School is a school partially funded by the Chinese government (see Record ID#52752). According to the Chinese Ambassador, the purpose of the scholarships is to "encourage students to persevere in learning Chinese and understanding Chinese culture, so that more children will become the pillars of China-Hungary friendship in the future". The scholarships are part of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary's "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award" program, launched in 2016, which annually grants 8 scholarships of HUF 200,000 for students to study at the Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School (captured in Record ID#91832).
