Project narrative

The Confucius Classroom at Te Kura Kaupapa Motuhake O Tawhiuau Ngati Manawa was established in August 2015. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing Te Kura Kaupapa Motuhake O Tawhiuau Ngati Manawa with a grant. On March 4, 2016, the classroom was officially opened. The original Confucius Institute project is tracked under Record ID#44176.

According to the Confucius Institute at the Victoria University of Wellington, the host schools of Confucius Classrooms were eligible for establishment funding and further annual funding for school or cluster projects related to Chinese language and culture from Xiamen University. 2.
