Project narrative

On March 29, 2020, the Chinese state-owned joint venture, Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Ltd. and Africa World Airlines (AWA) donated $200,000 USD to the Government of Ghana as COVID-19 relief aid. Each organization donated $100,000 USD. Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Ltd. in Ghana is one of the largest Chinese-funded projects in Ghana, generating 20%-25% of Ghana's total electricity supply and making great contributions to Ghana's economic and social development and improvement of people's living standards. Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited is jointly owned by Shenzhen Energy Group (60%) and the China Africa Development Fund (40%). It is the first successful Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Ghana.
