Description
On January 23, 2018, the Chinese Government and the Government of Sudan signed letters of exchange regarding a feasibility study for a Northern State and River Nile State Well Drilling and Water Supply Project. Then, on March 24, 2019, the two governments signed a project implementation agreement for the Northern State and River Nile State Well Drilling and Water Supply Project. China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) reportedly issued a $14 million grant in support of the implementation of this project. The purpose of the project is to drill 25 new water well and equip them with solar-power submersible pumps in Northern State and River Nile State. In October 2021, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) awarded a project implementation contract to China Jiangxi Corporation for International Economic and Technical Cooperation (CJIC). The contract duration is 18 months.
