Project narrative

On April 26, 2020, a handover ceremony took place for the donation of medical supplies from the Chinese Government to Rwanda.The ceremony was held at the MPPC warehouse of Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in Kigali. The Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Rao Hongwei, the Minister of Health of Rwanda, Dr. Daniel Ngamije, and officials from RBC attended the ceremony. During the ceremony, the supplies were handed over to the Ministry of Health of Rwanda. The supplies included 2,000 N95 face masks, 10,000 surgical masks, 2,000 items of disposable protective clothing, 500 infrared thermometers, 2,000 medical protective goggles, 10,000 pairs of shoes covers, and disposable sterilized rubber surgical gloves. This is the first official batch of emergency supplies that the Chinese Government has donated to Rwanda. A second batch arrived in September of 2020 (see Record ID#92429).
