Project narrative

On July 2, 2019, the Chinese Government and the Government of Kenya signed a $39.2 million (KES 3,500,000,000) grant agreement for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters Construction Project. The purpose of this project is to construct a new headquarters for the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nairobi. According to the Government of Kenya’s Electronic Project Management Information System (e-ProMIS), this project was originally scheduled to commence on July 1, 2020 and conclude on June 30, 2023. However, as of May 14, 2021, construction had not yet begun.
