Project narrative

On March 31, 2020, the handover ceremony for the anti-epidemic materials donated by the Chinese government to Malawi was held at the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe. Chinese Ambassador Liu Hongyang and Malawian Minister of Disaster Management Everton Chimulirenji attended the event and delivered speeches. Nearly 50 people also attended the event, including officials from the Ministry of Disaster Affairs, media reporters and airport staff. Before the ceremony, Ambassador Liu distributed masks to event attendees to remind everyone to take protective measures. After the event, Ambassador Liu also accepted a joint interview with media from China and Malawi. The materials donated included protective face masks, disposable medical protective clothes, infrared thermometers, protective medical goggles, sterilized surgical gloves and medical isolation shoes.
