Description
On April 24, 2020, a handover ceremony was held for the donation of medical supplies from the Chinese government to Malawi’s three major hospitals. The hospitals were Lilongwe Kamuzu Central Hospital, Blantyre Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, and Mzuzu Central Hospital. The handover ceremony was held at the Chinese Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi. Chinese Ambassador Liu Hongyang, the mayors of Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mzuzu, and the directors of Lilongwe Kamuzu Central Hospital, Blantyre Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, and Mzuzu Central Hospital were in attendance. Nearly 50 other people including media reporters, embassy staff, and Chinese medical workers also attended the event. Each of the three central hospitals were to get 10,000 disposable medical masks, 7,000 surgical masks, 300 N95 masks, 300 sets of protective suits and goggles, 1,000 pairs of gloves and 20 thermometers while each of the three city's councils were to get 2,000 disposable medical masks and 2 infrared thermometers.
