Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On September 27, 2020, a batch of anti-epidemic supplies donated by the Chinese government arrived in Malawi. The two parties held a handover ceremony at the Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. The Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malawi, Liu Guoyu, and the Deputy Minister of Health of Malawi, Chrissie Kanyasho, attended the event. Officials from the Malawian Disaster Management Agency were also in attendance. Counselor Liu Guoyu and Deputy Minister Kanyasho signed the handover certificate for this batch of anti-epidemic medical supplies on behalf of the governments of China and Malawi. The donation was valued at USD 1,000,000 and included 20,000 test kits and 30 ventilators, which were to be distributed to hospitals. The supplies arrived in Malawi on the same chartered plane as a Chinese medical team (see Record ID#88336).
