Project narrative

On November 12, 2020, the Chinese Embassy provided sanitation supplies to the municipal council of Kanifing in Gambia. The supplies included personal protective equipment, hand washing buckets, disinfectant, and disinfectant sprayers. These materials were to be used to support primary and secondary schools that resumed in-person classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The exact monetary value of this donation is unknown. A handover ceremony was held for this donation. Ma Jianchun, China’s Ambassador to Gambia, and Lord Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda of Kanifing attended the donation ceremony. During the ceremony, Mayor Bensouda spoke highly of the cooperation between Gambia and China and thanked China for the donation.
