Project narrative

On July 24, 2020, the government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China donated medical supplies to the Gambian government. According to The Voice News, the donation comprised 10,000 medical masks, 1,000 N95 respiratory masks, 100 protective suits, 100 safety goggles, and 79 infrared thermometers. The Guangxi Autonomous region has a sister city relationship with Banjul, capital of the Gambia. A handover ceremony was held for this donation and a concurrent donation of sewing machines (see Record ID#94645) at the Presidential Palace of Gambia. China’s Ambassador to China, Ma Jianchun, the First Lady of Gambia, Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow, and other officials attended the ceremony. The materials were distributed to the Gambia Nurses and Midwives association for COVID-19 prevention efforts.
