Project narrative

On September 21st, 2021, the 31st medical team from China arrived at the Mnazi Mmoja Hospital and Abdulla Mzee Hospital on Pemba Island. On October 15, 2021, the team visited the minister of Health of Tanzania. The purpose of sending this assistance team is to support the management of difficult medical issues in Tanzania. The 31st medical team completed its mission in September 2022. On September 10th, 2022, President Mwini of Tanzania awarded medals and commemorative certificates to all the team members in recognition of their contributions. During the medical team's time in Tanzania, they completed about 25,000 outpatient visits, 13,000 inpatient visits, 3,213 elective and emergency surgeries, 513 critically ill patients, 3,458 acupuncture visits, 750 anesthesia visits, X-ray , MRI, CT examination about 6,000 person-times, 645 person-times of gastrointestinal endoscopy, 374 times of Helicobacter pylori detection; more than 150 times of various types of teaching activities were carried out, and about 720 local doctors were trained; 25 times of public health education were carried out, with 548 participants; public health prevention and control was carried out 5 times, and more than 70 people participated; 10 free clinics were held, benefiting 1,500 people.
