Description
On June 4, 2021, the Jilin Province of China and the Chinese Embassy jointly donated medical masks to the University of Zambia. The total number of masks provided was 50,000. The Jilin Province provided 30,000 masks while the Chinese Embassy provided 20,000 masks. These masks will be used to improve COVID-19 response efforts by the University of Zambia, the largest public university in the country. Masks will be distributed among students and faculty in the university. The monetary value of this donation is unknown. A handover ceremony was held for this donation in Lusaka, Zambia. Li Jie, China’s Ambassador to Zambia, and Professor Luke Mumba, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Zambia, attended the ceremony. Chinese and Zambian directors of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia also attended the ceremony. Jilin Province's contribution to this donation is captured in Project ID#98594.
