Project narrative

On March 4, 2022, the Chinese embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) established the "Mulan Scholarship" and awarded it to female students studying at the University of Kinshasa. The purpose of the scholarship was to subsidize outstanding female college students, help them complete their studies, and realize their ideals in life. The monetary value of the donation is unknown. The award ceremony took place at the University of Kinshasa and was attended by Chinese Ambassador Zhu Jing, President of the University of Kinshasa Ntunba, Secretary-General Banza, various deans and school representatives, the educational consultant of the presidential palace of Congo, and the awardees. At the ceremony, Ambassador Zhu Jing congratulated the students and noted the strong relationship that China and the DRC have. The year of the awarding (2022) marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and the DRC.
