Project narrative

On June 17, 2021, the Chinese Government donated a batch of medical equipment to Eritrea to support its COVID-19 response. The handover ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador Cai Ge and Eritrean Minister of Health Amina Nurhussein, who signed a handover certificate on behalf of their respective governments. Also present were Economic and Commercial Counsellor Yu Jinming, the head of the 14th Chinese medical aid team to Eritrea Zhao Yanbing, and senior Eritrean health officials. The donation was intended to strengthen Eritrea’s healthcare capacity and deepen bilateral cooperation in the health sector. Chinese officials highlighted China’s willingness to continue expanding cooperation through projects such as the construction of traditional medicine centers, hospital partnerships, health training, and technical support for Orotta Hospital.
