On March 10, 2020, the Chinese Embassy provided equipment to the Gambia Ministry of Health. The equipment included two Foton View CS2 ambulances, medicine, and medical items. These supplies are valued at over D10 million and will be part of Gambia’s COVID-19 response and prevention. The two ambulances will be used in two hospitals in Banjul to assist in ambulance work in remote communities. A handover ceremony was held for this donation at the Central Medical Store in Kotu, Gambia. China’s Ambassador to Gambia, Ma Jianchun, Modou Njie, the Director of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health, Modou Lamin Jaiteh, the Permanent Secretary, Ousman Sillah, the Chairperson of the National Assembly Select Committee on Health, and Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, the Minister of Health of Gambia, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.
