Project narrative

On September 29, 2022, the Chinese Embassy and Sinohydro, a state-owned company of China, provided funding for the rehabilitation of Parakou’s Bio Guerra statue in Benin. The project was undertaken to recognize the 50th anniversary of China-Benin relations. The monetary value of this funding is unknown. A donation ceremony was held to commemorate the completion of the rehabilitation. China’s Ambassador to Benin, Peng Jingtao, the Mayor of Paraku, the Chairman of the Foreign Committee of the Benin Council, the Secretary-General of the Government of Benin, and representatives of Sinohydro attended the ceremony.
