Project narrative

On July 22, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone facilitated a ceremony to grant Chinese Ambassador scholarships to 147 Sierra Leonean students. The purpose of the scholarship was to allow students to take online courses provided by Chinese universities and institutions. 125 students received grants of 2 million Sierra Leonean Leones. 22 university students were selected to receive grants of 10 million Sierra Leonean Leones. The total scholarship funds amounted to 470 million Sierra Leonean Leones. Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhangliang, Minister of Basic Education of Sierra Leone, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, and Chairman of the Sierra-China Friendship Association Kawa were among those who attended the event.
