Description
On March 21, 2021, Benin’s Ministry of Health — represented by the state-owned Société Béninoise pour l'Approvisionnement en Produits de Santé (SOBAPS) — took receipt of 203,000 donated Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses. Only 100,000 doses were donated by the Chinese Government; the rest were purchased by the Government of Benin. Then, on January 14, 2022, Chinese Government delivered 500,000 donated doses of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines and syringes to the Government of Benin. Then, on May 10, 2022, the Chinese Government delivered a third batch of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine doses as well as medical supplies including syringes, x-ray machines, multi-parameter monitors, electric syringe pumps, medical beds, EKG devices, and resuscitation respirators. A handover certificate was signed by the Charge d'Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Benin Yan Yan and the cabinet director of the Beninese Ministry of Health Petas Akogbeto in Cotonou.
