Project narrative

On December 7, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa provided 114,00 Rand in prize money to 39 student and faculty recipients of the “China Ambassador Award” in South Africa. The funds were given to the Department of Basic Education of South Africa for distribution to the recipients. These funds were provided in order to improve basic education services in South Africa. An award handover ceremony was held for this donation at the Chinese Embassy in South Africa. China’s Ambassador to South Africa, Chen Xiaodong, South Africa’s Minister of Basic Education, Mrs. Motshekga, and South Africa’s Deputy Director of Basic Education, Mr. Padayachee, attended the ceremony. Award recipients, both faculty and students, also attended the ceremony and delivered speeches.
