Project narrative

On December 13, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in the Solomon Islands donated solar lights to women working in the Central Market in Honiara. The donation ceremony was organized by the Office of the Prime Minister’s wife, Amy Sogavare. Gong Rui, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, represented Ambassador Li Ming at the event. The donation aimed to support the livelihoods and safety of women vendors who often work long hours under limited lighting conditions. The monetary value of the donation is unknown.
