On September 30, 2022, China's seventh medical team to Samoa held a departure ceremony in Changchun, the capital of Jilin province. The renewed medical team programs between China and Samoa started in 2018, and the rotation is typically every half a year. The sixth team concluded its mission on October 8, 2022. The seventh team left from China on October 4, 2022. Members of the seventh medical team come from the First Hospital of Jilin University, the Second Hospital of Jilin University, the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University, Jilin Provincial People's Hospital, and other various hospitals in the province. They come from fields such as anesthesiology, pathology, otolaryngology, brain surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, and gynecology. The eighth medical team is set to be dispatched in the first half of 2023.
