On March 4,2021, the Chinese Government delivered a shipment of anti-epidemic medical aid to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Benin. The purpose of this donation is to support Benin’s COVID-19 response efforts. The monetary value of this donation is unknown. A handover ceremony was held for this donation. Peng Jingtao, China’s Ambassador to Benin, and Um Patan, the Minister of Health of Benin attended the ceremony. Following the handover of materials, the two sides signed the "Agreement of Intent between the Health Commission of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Benin on Establishing a Cooperation Mechanism for Counterpart Hospitals." This agreement will allow increased cooperation between hospitals in the two countries concerning COVID-19.
