Project narrative

Between January 11 and January 19, 2020, a team of 5 Chinese doctors from the Eye Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine traveled to Mali where they carried out free cataract surgeries for 41 patients, most of whom were impoverished. The doctors were stationed at Mali Hospital, in Bamako. In addition to providing direct care, the team also held demonstrations and lectures for the resident ophthalmologists at Mali hospital. The team was sent by the Health Commission of Zhejiang Province and funded by the Chinese government.. On January 16th, the Chinese Ambassador Zhu Liying visited the team at the hospital and donated a box of medications to the hospital in honor of his visit (see Record ID#94889).
