Project narrative

On May 4, 2020, the Chinese medical expert team arrived in Côte d’Ivoire. The team consists of 12 medical experts from the Hubei Province of China. While in Côte d’Ivoire, the medical team will share their experiences they have accumulated during China’s fight against COVID-19 and provide support to the Côte d’Ivoire government and medical institutions for COVID-19 prevention and response efforts. The team will also conduct inspections of COVID-19 designated hospitals and testing centers. According to Liu Yun, the Vice President of Tianjin People’s Hospital, the medical expert team came at the invitation of the Cote d’Ivoire government. The medical team arrived on April 30, 2020. A welcoming ceremony was held for the arrival of the medical team in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. China’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Wan Li, Minister Aka, the leader of the expert team, and the Vice President of Tianjin People’s Hospital, Liu Yun, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Information on when the medical team left Côte d’Ivoire and returned to China is unavailable.
