Description

On July 9, 2021, the Embassy of Ukraine in China received the sculptural composition “The Gates of Soul. A Dialogue between Taras Shevchenko and Du Fu” by Chinese sculptor Wu Weihan. The statues depict eighth-century Chinese poet Du Fu and 19th-century Ukrainian literary icon Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, also known as Kobzar Taras. The composition is identical to that gifted by China to Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 2017 (see project UD#90163). The Embassy received the composition to commemorate the 10th anniversary of China-Ukraine strategic cooperation.
