Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On April 12, 2020, Zhongshan, a city in China's Guangdong province, donated a number of facemasks to Markham in Ontario. The shipment was part of a 50,000 mask donation which also included the cities of Moriguchi and Nagasaki. It is unclear how many masks Markham received. The status of the relationship between Zhongshan and Markham is unclear.

Staff comments

1. The relationship between Zhongshan and Markham is unclear, as Zhongshan's sister city in Canada is Burnaby, and Markham's sister city in China is Wuhan. 2. "AidData has estimated the transaction amount for this donation based on price catalogues from the World Health Organization (WHO). Please see the TUFF Methodology for additional details"
