Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 21, 2018, representatives from the city of Jiaozuo in mainland China unveiled three statues as gifts to its sister city of Thunder Bay in Canada. The statues, made of bronze, weighed 800 pounds each, and depicted two figures practicing Tai Chi and Chen Wangting, the founder of Tai Chi. The city of Jiaozuo covered all the costs of shipping and handling. The sister-city relationship between Jiaozuo and Thunder Bay was established in May, 2017. The statues were meant to commemorate the cities' shared interest in Tai Chi.
