The Confucius Classroom at Cairns State High School was established in 2014 and it was officially opened on May 29, 2015. The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) awarded the Confucius Classroom status in recognition of the school's achievements in Chinese language and culture education, providing Cairns State High School with a grant. This Confucius Classroom was the 38th Confucius Classroom to be established in Queensland and the eighth Confucius Classroom to be established by the Confucius Institute at Queensland University of Technology.
