Description
On March 23, 2020, the Libyan Ministry of Health announced that the Chinese Ministry of Health formally offered to train Libyan doctors to combat COVID-19. The Chinese government proposed a training program for Libyan Ministry of Health officials administered by experienced Chinese doctors. The Libyan Health Ministry stated that the training program will be conducted using "distance training techniques," including an introduction to the methods China has implemented to address its domestic outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The program will also provide training on ways to deal with the obstruction of the respiratory passages of infected patients. It is unclear from the sources available whether the program was actually implemented. According to the Charge d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese embassy in Libya, Libyan experts did participate in virtual conferences held by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese National Health Commission.
