Description

In August 2021, China Export-Import Bank suspended 40 million USD of debt for Tajikistan. This was following Tajikistan's request for the bank to assist with USD $1.2 billion debt the country owes. According to the China Africa Research Initiative of Johns Hopkins, Tajikistan signed a memorandum for the suspension agreement in January 2021. The recipient country is still seeking further debt relief.
