In 2019, Sinopec Canada Energy Ltd., under its operating subsidiary Sinopec Daylight Energy Ltd., donated an unknown amount to the Calgary Dragon Boat Society for the organization of the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival, according to the Sinopec subsidiary's annual report for the year. Sinopec Canada Energy Ltd. was the title sponsor for the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival for four years in a row. The Calgary Dragon Boat Festival, according to the report, draws approximately 1,850 competitors and more than 4,000 spectators every year, and supports the integration of Chinese and Canadian culture.
