In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Sri Lanka. The Chinese Government delivered 600,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Sri Lanka on March 31, 2021 (see Record ID#95884). Then, on May 25, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered 500,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Sri Lanka (see Record ID#95887). The Chinese Government delivered an additional 1 million donated Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses to the Government of Sri Lanka on June 6, 2021 (see Record ID#95913). Then, on July 27, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered 1.6 million donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Sri Lanka (see Record ID#95046). One month later, on August 28, 2021, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China delivered 300,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Sri Lankan Armed Forces (see Record ID#95918). Then, in September 2021, the Chinese Government announced that it would donate 1 million Sinovac doses to the Government of Sri Lanka in September 2021 (see Record ID#95923). However, it is unclear if this batch of vaccines was ever delivered.

As such, AidData has estimated the monetary value of the July 2021 donation as $28.8 million.
