Project narrative

On October 19, 2013, at the annual State of the Island Gala on MacDonald Island, CNOOC Petroleum North America ULC, formerly known as Nexen Energy Ltd., announced a CAD 510,000 contribution to the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC). CAD 460,000 were given as a corporate gift, and CAD 50,000 were given as a stipulation of a Stadium Suite Naming Agreement between the two parties. The funds were used to support the sustainability and expansion of the MacDonald Island Park's various recreational facilities, which provide services to visitors and residents of the Wood Buffalo area. CNOOC Petroleum North America ULC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).
