Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

Approved on December 16, 2021, the Asian Development Bank's project "Green and Resilient Rural Recovery through Agri-food System Transformation in Asia Pacific Region" was partially financed by the Chinese Poverty Reduction and Regional Cooperation Fund, which provided $800,000 USD. Other financiers were the Technical Assistance Special Fund with $1.5 million USD, the Regional Cooperation and Integration Fund with $500,000 USD, the Climate Change Fund with $750,000, and the Strategic Climate Fund $550,000 USD. The project's goals are to assess the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the region's food and nutrition security and rural livelihood and help developing member countries (DMCs) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) reshape their visions and investments for a greener and resilient recovery of agri-food value chains and rural economies from disruptions caused by COVID-19. It intends to address the ways in which COVID-19 has exacerbated rural poverty and food and nutrition insecurity, particularly among women and vulnerable groups.
