On June 11, 2020, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka donated 10,000 medical masks worth an estimated USD 3,000 to the University of Peradeniya through Chinese Language Teaching Spots affiliated with the Confucius Institute of the University of Colombo. The masks were intended to be distributed to the students of the university.
