Project narrative
In 2020, the Chinese government provided 7.15 million Moroccan dirhams in total grant funding to Morocco's Ministry of Health and Social Protection to broadly support the country's health system. More specifically, 2.65 million dirhams were provided via the value of in-kind donations of medical devices and medicines to hospitals in which Chinese medical teams were stationed. The remaining 4.5 million dirhams were used to strengthen human resources associated with the Ministry's health information systems. The Moroccan Ministry of Health explicitly considered the projects supported by these funds to be non-COVID-19 related.
Staff comments
1. An additional 7 million Moroccan dirhams were granted by the Chinese government to Morocco's Ministry of Health specifically for COVID-19 mitigation. However, this amount is an aggregate, the majority of which (if not its entirety) is captured in other AidData records of in-kind donations by Chinese government entities. To avoid double counting, this 7 million has been excluded from this project's transaction amount.
