Description
On March 31, 2021, the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives tweeted that medical supplies for fighting COVID-19 had been delivered the previous day, as part of a larger donation that also included two batches of 100k Sinopharm vaccines doses each (see #94774, #95395 for more information on each batch). The supplies appear to have been included in a handover ceremony held on March 25 for the first batch of vaccines. Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Zhang Lizhong, Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Maldivian Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem participated in the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. In the tweet, the supplies donated were listed as 201,600 disposable syringes; 1,500 boxes of nucleic acid coronavirus test kits with 25 tests in each box; 540 nucleic acid extraction kits with a note that one box would supply 60 people; 1 automated nucleic extractor; 10,000 N95 masks; and 5,000 protective suits.
