On June 11, 2020, the Chinese Consulate General, represented by Consul General Jia Li, turned over 3,000 10-kilo bags of rice during the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of China and the Philippines. The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) will be distributing to the some local government units (LGU), the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police the rice the Chinese government has donated. In a statement, OPAV Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino said the Chinese government will allocate 400 bags each to the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu; 300 bags each to the PNP and AFP; and 800 bags each to Region 6 and 8 for distribution to their LGUs where there are quarantine centers and those with rising number of COVID-19 cases.
