Project narrative

In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese Government donated approximately 600,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Zambia. The Chinese Government delivered 100,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Zambia on May 31, 2021. Then, on August 9, 2021, the Chinese Government delivered 100,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines as well as 102,400 syringes to the Government of Zambia. Li Jie, the Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, attended the vaccine handover ceremony and delivered a speech. The aid package was meant to help the Government of Zambia combat its third wave of COVID-19. The Chinese Government delivered an additional 400,000 donated Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses to the Government of Zambia on January 24, 2022.
