Project narrative

Between February 2021 and July 2022, the Chinese Government donated a total of 900,000 Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses and associated medical supplies to the Government of Sierra Leone (umbrella record ID #110810) in four tranches. a) February 25, 2021: 200,000 Sinopharm doses (ID #86159). b) March 1, 2021: 200,000 Sinopharm doses and 201,600 syringes/needles (ID #93305). c) August 18, 2021: 200,000 Sinopharm doses, 201,600 syringes, 40,000 nucleic acid test kits, and 50,000 antigen test kits (ID #93458). d) July 22, 2022: 300,000 Sinopharm doses (ID #95664). These donations were handed over at formal ceremonies attended by senior officials from Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the Chinese Embassy in Freetown. Collectively, the donations were valued by AidData at $16 million USD equivalent, based on estimated per-dose vaccine costs and WHO catalogue prices for testing supplies.
