On June 3, 2021, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China delivered 60,000 donated doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Mozambique Defence Armed Forces (FADM). A handover ceremony was held at Maputo International Airport. The National Director of Military Health in the Mozambican Defence Ministry, Agueda Duarte, and the military attaché at the Chinese embassy, Zhou Zhe, jointly signed a handover certificate. Also present were Mozambique's Defense and Health Ministers, Jaime Neto and Armindo Tiago, and the Chinese ambassador, Wang Hejun. The vaccines were to be passed on to the Mozambican Health Ministry for distribution to other groups because 60,000 doses was more than FADM required. In 2021, the Chinese Government donated approximately 1.46 million doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines to the Government of Mozambique. A February donation of 200,000 doses is captured by Record ID#95808. A People's Liberation Army donation of vaccines from June is captured in Record ID#95811. An August donation of 200,000 doses is captured in Record ID#95809. A final December donation of 1 million doses is captured in Record ID#95810.
